Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is an industry-managed approach to conformity assessment of 'special processes' that brings together technical experts from prime contractors, suppliers and representatives from government to work together and establish requirements for approval of suppliers using a standardized approach.

Getting this certification is nothing short of grueling. In fact, it is so tough to get NADCAP certification that many companies work with consultants before they even venture into the process – so that they’ll know exactly what to expect and can minimize their chances of failure as much as possible!

1. Steps to Certification

• Document everything from in our Quality System, working procedures and quality control.

• Submit all company manuals to the Performance Review Institute (the organization that’s responsible for evaluating companies and handing out NADCAP certification).

• The Institute will review the materials, the company’s practices, and instruct us regarding what changes need to be made – even if they’re teeny-tiny tweaks that anyone else would have been hard-pressed to even notice.

• Implementation of  the required changes.

• Performance audit and certification granted

2. Ongoing Nadcap compliance

• As a Certified company we don’t get to celebrate for long. In fact, as soon as our certification goes through, we are asked to schedule next year’s re-certification audit! That’s right; this process takes place once a year.
